Telemedicine has emerged as a transformative approach to healthcare delivery, particularly in regions with inadequate healthcare infrastructure. The integration of telemedicine services, led by nurses, has expanded access to healthcare services, especially in remote and underserved areas (WHO, 2024). Nurse-led telemedicine services involve remote consultations, patient education, medication management, and monitoring of chronic conditions, ensuring that patients receive timely care despite geographical barriers (Adeyemi & Sanni, 2023).
In Niger State, many rural communities struggle with inadequate healthcare facilities, shortages of medical personnel, and long travel distances to hospitals (Hassan & Musa, 2024). Telemedicine, facilitated by nurses, has the potential to bridge this gap by providing virtual consultations, reducing hospital visits, and enabling early intervention for preventable conditions. Several studies have shown that nurse-led telemedicine improves patient satisfaction, enhances adherence to treatment, and reduces mortality rates in rural communities (Okafor & Usman, 2023).
Despite the benefits, challenges such as digital illiteracy, poor internet connectivity, and regulatory barriers limit the full implementation of nurse-led telemedicine services. This study aims to evaluate the impact of these services on healthcare accessibility in Niger State, focusing on patient reach, quality of care, and overall healthcare outcomes.
Healthcare accessibility remains a major challenge in Niger State, with many patients unable to receive timely medical care due to geographical and economic constraints. While telemedicine offers a viable solution, there is limited empirical evidence on the effectiveness of nurse-led telemedicine services in improving healthcare accessibility in this region.
Without an assessment of the impact of nurse-led telemedicine, policymakers and healthcare providers may not fully understand its potential or the challenges involved in its implementation. This study seeks to bridge this gap by evaluating the effectiveness of nurse-led telemedicine in improving healthcare access in Niger State.
H₀: Nurse-led telemedicine services do not significantly improve patient access to healthcare in Niger State.

This study focuses on nurse-led telemedicine services in primary healthcare centers and hospitals across Niger State. Limitations may include variations in technology adoption, internet connectivity issues, and reluctance of some patients to use telemedicine.
